Oman hotels record 91.6% increase in revenues

The data from the National Center for Statistics and Information revealed that hotels in Oman had an influx of guests belonging to several nationalities.

MUSCAT: A significant increase has been recorded in the total revenues of three to five-starred hotels in Oman.

The monthly statistical bulletin of tourism indicators issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information revealed that revenues were up by 91.6 percent in January 2022 as compared to the same period in 2021.

The total number of hotel guests in these hotels went up by 19.1 percent in the same period, making it 97,956 guests. The occupancy rate was 51.3 percent during January 2022.

The number of European guests were the highest in January 2022 which is 26,571 – a jump of 641.5 percent from 3,584 in January 2021. Guests belonging to the Gulf region went up by 270.6 percent – from 1,491 guests to 5,548.

The count of Omani guests fell by 24.9 percent from 60,759 in January 2021 to 45,628 in January 2022. The number of Asian guests also decreased by 3.2 percent from 9,531 in January 2021 to 9,223 in January 2022.

The number of guests from Oceania in January 2022 was about 733, registering a slight growth rate of 3.4 percent compared to the same month in 2021. Lastly, the number of guests of other nationalities touched 2,138, a growth rate of 36.4 percent during January 2022 compared to the same month in 2021.
