NEW DELHI : In a major development, after 25 months, India will lift the international commercial flight ban and will resume normal operations from March 27 onward, the country’s Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed on Tuesday.

The decision will allow airlines across the world which were only operating international flights through air bubble agreement to operate capacity as per the original bilateral agreements. The move will be a huge relief for hundreds of people as it could bring down fares on foreign routes.

“After having recognized the increased vaccination coverage across the globe and in consultation with the stakeholders, the Government of India has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to/from India from 27.03.2022, i.e. start of Summer Schedule 2022,” an official statement from the authority said.
