MUSCAT : Dr. Pendula Gunawardna, Minister of Commerce of Sri Lanka, received Eng. Redha bin Juma Al Saleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a number of members of the Omani trade delegation accompanying him.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance trade cooperation by increasing the volume of exports between the two countries.
His Excellency Dr. Pendula Gunawardna, Minister of Commerce of Sri Lanka, said, “The Sultanate of Oman and Sri Lanka enjoy distinguished trade relations. He explained that Sri Lanka has many products that are exported abroad, such as spices, tea and other products.”

He added that the Sri Lankan government seeks to develop economic and investment relations by intensifying the visits of trade delegations between the two countries, noting that he is looking forward to visiting the Sultanate of Oman in the near future and meeting with stakeholders in the trade sector.
The aim behind this being to explore more opportunities and sign memoranda of understanding that will contribute to the development of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and raising the volume of trade exchange between them to a level that meets the aspirations of both sides.
His Excellency Basil Raja Paksha, Minister of Finance of Sri Lanka, also received a number of members of the Omani delegation headed by Eng. Redha bin Juma Al Saleh, President of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During the meeting, they discussed strengthening financial and investment cooperation relations between the two friendly countries.
His Excellency Basil Raja Paksha, Minister of Finance of Sri Lanka, affirmed his country’s readiness to provide financial facilities to all Omani investors wishing to invest in the stock market, foodstuffs, tourism sector and import building materials such as iron, cement and urea fertiliser.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Juma bin Hamdan Al Malik Al Shehhi, the Sultanate of Oman’s ambassador to Sri Lanka, and Omar Liby, Amir Ajwad, Sri Lanka’s ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.
