MUSCAT: His Excellency Professor Mahad Bin Said Bin Ali Baawain, Minister of Labour, has explained that the ministry had decided against terminating the contracts of 26,161 people from the national workforce in the private sector and in the institutions affected by the pandemic.
He said during the virtual press conference, “A decent work environment along with productive and renewable competencies will review the work done in 2021 and set the goals for 2022. A total of 96 institutions were willing to collectively terminate the national workforce in 2021, in addition to 146 organisations which were willing to make a deduct wages of 28,370 individuals in the national workforce.”
