MUSCAT: The Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company has issued a clarification regarding the charges for water service connection circulating on social media.
The company confirmed that these charges had been introduced since 2019 based on numerous demands from a large segment of citizens with the aim of accelerating the delivery of drinking water service to the networks instead of supplying through water tanks the schemes that are not covered by the networks.
The company explained that the Public Authority for Water has reviewed the claims to speed up the pace of network implementation according to the desire of subscribers, as the average cost of implementing distribution networks was calculated only without taking into account the costs associated with transmission networks, collection tanks and other other costs.
