MUSCAT: The minimum wage for Omanis will be reviewed by a joint committee in the second half this year, the country’s Minister of Labour said.
Speaking in an interview His Excellency Professor Mahad Bin Said Bin Ali Baawain said: “The reviews of minimum wages is a responsibility of joint committees and an integrated system worked with it and can be reviewed during the second half of this year.”
According to the minister, there are more than 3,000 professions in the labour market. “The number of vacancies are between 180,000 and 250,000 across sectors,” he informed.

He also pointed out that there is “no link between working in the private sector and the opportunity to compete for jobs in the government sector.”
