MUSCAT: The Inspector General of Police and Customs issued a decision merging, raising the level and amending the names of some Royal Oman Police formations.
As of Sunday, February 6, 2022, the following amendments will be effective:
- Merging the ‘Civil Status, Passports and Residence’ departments under the name ‘General Directorate of Passports and Civil Status’.
- Raising the level of the ‘Cavalry Police Unit’ to a command called ‘The Mounted Police Command’.
- Amending the title of ‘General Administration for Development and Auditing’ to become ‘General Administration for Planning and Development’.
- Amending the title of ‘General Department of Criminal Investigations and Investigations’ to become ‘General Department of Criminal Investigations and Investigations’.
- Amending the title of ‘Public Relations Department’ to ‘Department of Security Relations and Media’.
