Oman’s Inspector General of Police and Customs issues decision

The amendments will be effective from Sunday, February 6.

MUSCAT: The Inspector General of Police and Customs issued a decision merging, raising the level and amending the names of some Royal Oman Police formations. 

As of Sunday, February 6, 2022, the following amendments will be effective:

  1. Merging the ‘Civil Status, Passports and Residence’ departments under the name ‘General Directorate of Passports and Civil Status’.
  2. Raising the level of the ‘Cavalry Police Unit’ to a command called ‘The Mounted Police Command’.
  3. Amending the title of ‘General Administration for Development and Auditing’ to become ‘General Administration for Planning and Development’.
  4. Amending the title of ‘General Department of Criminal Investigations and Investigations’ to become ‘General Department of Criminal Investigations and Investigations’.
  5. Amending the title of ‘Public Relations Department’ to ‘Department of Security Relations and Media’.
