Minister discusses challenges facing private schools in Oman

The meeting also discussed a proposal to form a committee to study the challenges and difficulties facing private schools in the country.

MUSCAT: Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniya, Minister of Education met some owners of private schools in the country on Sunday.

The meeting was held in the context of encouraging investment in the private school education sector. The meeting also reviewed a number of challenges facing private schools in Oman. Some of the most important subjects that was reviewed was the conditions “these schools faced during the coronavirus pandemic including the Omanisation rate of the teaching staff, low tuition fees, lack of financial resources, the high costs of most services and fees, the cost of building construction, and the lack of online services in some private schools,” the Ministry said in a statement.

The minister also discussed about submitting a number of proposals to develop the academic aspect of private schools, and to develop the regulation for schools in line Oman 2040 vision. The meeting also discussed a proposal to form a committee to study the challenges and difficulties facing these schools, and to find appropriate solutions to overcome them in coordination with the various authorities in the Sultanate.
