MUSCAT: The Court of First Instance in Salalah recently issued a judicial ruling in favour of one of the consumers, due to the provider’s failure to provide the service to the consumer in a proper manner and within the agreed period, and ordered him to be imprisoned for a period of three months and a fine of OMR 500.
The details of the ruling are summarised in the complaint by a consumer to the Consumer Protection Department in Dhofar against a vehicle repair workshop, during which he stated that he had agreed with the corporation to repair the engine of his Hyundai Stanfi 2013. The workshop, however, was late in repairing the vehicle, and after the consumer started following up more than once, the workshop began giving unconvincing arguments for the delay.
The consumer went to the administration to submit his complaint after he found his vehicle in the workshop without an engine and in poor condition. Immediately, the administration summoned the accused and collected evidence to complete the case file and for not reaching a satisfactory settlement for both parties. The case file was referred to the Public Prosecution, who in turn transferred it to the competent court that issued the aforementioned ruling.
