MUSCAT: The Supreme Committee has not taken “any direction yet” to make the third dose of COVID-19 vaccination mandatory in Oman, the Minister of Health has confirmed on Monday.
Addressing the media, His Excellency Dr Ahmed Al Saidi said: “The third dose or the booster dose is not mandatory until now and the Supreme Committee has not taken any direction yet on this but studies have proven that it is necessary in light of the presence of new mutant of the coronavirus.”
However, the Minister said there will be new decisions related to the third dose in the future. “Like I said, until now the third dose is not mandatory and there is no compulsion to take it either but to give you protection against the new mutant virus, it is good to take and there will be other decisions related to it in the coming days,” he added.
