DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates on Sunday announced that it will no longer censor films released in theatres.

In a statement issued on Twitter, the UAE Media Regulatory Authority said instead of cutting sensitive scenes it will introduce a 21+ age category to its motion picture content rating system. “The movies will be screened in cinemas according to their international version,” the authority said in a Twitter post.

“According to this classification, the international version of movies will be shown in cinemas, with an emphasis on the strict following of age classification standards for audience entry,” the statement added.
