The latest fuel hike is a blow to motorists who on Sunday flooded microblogging site Twitter demanding the authorities to put a ceiling on the fuel prices. According to some netizens the prices could rise further in the coming months as

Ever since the announcement on Sunday, #FixTheFuelPrice has been trending on Twitter.
“Truly a dark day for drivers and this would hurt many household budgets,” said Omani citizen Rashid Al Mamari on Twitter.
Popular journalist Muktar Al Hinai said: “Today the citizen is between the joy of the oil price rising above $80 so that the economy recovers and pays off the debt, deficits stop and promotions return, but the results of this (fuel price) rise is directly affecting his situation. We hope the government will put a ceiling on fuel prices, especially since it is not without a profit margin.” —
