MUSCAT: With Oman hosting the ICC T20 World Cup for the first in history, the credits goes to Pankaj Khimji, the Chairman of Oman Cricket, whose unwavering determination helped the country to organise the biggest showpiece event.

“We are on the verge of creating history. Everything is possible in this world and this (ICC T20 World Cup) is just an example,” Pankaj Khimji said speaking to The Arabian Stories.

“We are ready to welcome the world. To reach this day, it was not easy but our team worked really hard for it. They deserve full credits,” Khimji said with a beaming smile.

Oman Cricket has built the infrastructure to welcome about 4,000 fans for the Group B double-headers of the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup to be held at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium on October 17, 19 and 21. The inaugural match will be played on October 17 between hosts Oman and Papua New Guinea at 2pm, followed by Bangladesh and Scotland on the same day at 6pm.

“What better than watching Oman battling it out with top teams in the Group B stage of the T20 World Cup, right here in home conditions. While we understand the excitement and encourage our fans in Oman to come and support the teams in large numbers, we request them to adhere to the stipulated COVID protocols and guidelines to avoid last-minute disappointments. We want the fans in Oman to come, enjoy and savour this historic moment for years to come,” Khimji added.
