MUSCAT: Ahead of tropical storm Shaheen deepening into a category 1 tropical cyclone, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has issued a notice to all hotel establishments in Oman to take precautions.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry advises hotels “to instruct all employees to direct tourists and guests to take precautions and not risk crossing valleys and stay away from low-lying areas, and we also call upon them not to go to the sea during this period.”

“Take the necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety of visitors to hotel and tourist establishments, and we advise everyone to follow the latest developments from their official source,” the statement added.

Tropical storm Shaheen is likely to deepen into a first class tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
