MUSCAT: After more than 18 months, over 360 mosques in Oman will resume for the Friday prayers tomorrow, the Supreme Committee has announced.
The resumption of Friday prayers comes after they were suspended in March 2020 and indicates a major step towards a return to normal religious rituals in the country. According to the list issued by the Ministry of Religious and Endowment Affairs, 360 mosques in the country have been granted approval to hold Friday prayers.
Mosque capacity will be capped at 50 per cent and safety protocols will be in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19. According to the decision, only those worshippers who are vaccinated will be allowed entry. Worshippers must commit to social distancing, including wearing a mask and must bring their own prayer rugs.
