MUSCAT: Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) managed to recover OMR 17,000 to a consumer and resolved his complaint with a used car dealer in Buraimi.

In a statement issued, CPA said the consumer purchased a used SUV from a used car showroom after the company assured that the vehicle is in good condition. “Days after transferring the vehicle in his name, the consumer spotted a technical malfunction in the vehicle. After inspecting the vehicle throughly, the consumer filed a complaint with CPA. After investigation, CPA ordered the company to return him OMR 17,000 which is the purchase value of the car after CPA officials felt that the company did not disclose the defect of the vehicle to the consumer,” CPA said in the statement.

“The department in Buraimi was able to conclude a friendly settlement between the consumer and the car showroom, which returned the complete amount to the consumer,” CPA added.
