MUSCAT: Residents who are stranded abroad for more than six months can return to the country after obtaining necessary approvals from the authorities, a top Royal Oman Police official has said.
Speaking at the Supreme Committee press conference, Major General Abdullah Al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General for Police and Customs for Operations said: “According to the previous system, expats with valid residency should remain outside the country for more than 6 month. However, they can return to Oman, provided the procedure can be processed at the request of the employer at the Passport and Residence Department of Royal Oman Police,” Al Harthy said.
As per the earlier rule, residents were not eligible to enter the country if they have exceeded their stay outside Oman for more than 180 days.
