MUSCAT: Promotions in both public and private sector must be based on productivity and is reserved for successful employees, a top Ministry of Labour official has said.
With Oman expected to launch the updated Civil Service Law and Labour Law soon, Sayyid Salim bin Musallam Al Busaidi, the Undersecretary for Human Resources at the Ministry of Labour said that both the laws are balanced and will motivate employees to work. “Group promotions have become a matter of concern, promotions should instead be reserved for successful employees and the two laws ensure these rights are protected,” Al Busaidi said.
According to Al Busaidi, there will no change in the working hours of government sector.“ These new laws will motivate people to work and will contain a lot of common ground between employers and employees, as it is aimed at increasing productivity,” he added.
