MUSCAT : The Sultanate has been selected as supervisor state for the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy during the UN general assembly meetings held yesterday.
Oman was represented at the session by Dr. Mohammed Awadh al-Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate to the United Nations.
The Sultanate’s selection to supervise the strategy is credited to its moderate political stance, which is based on principles of peaceful coexistence, rejection of violence and extremism and advocacy of diplomacy of peace.

The UN general assembly’s meetings saw the participation of member states, regional and international organisations, civil society institutions and an elite selection of high-ranking international officials.
