MUSCAT: A third case of COVID-19 has been registered in the national football team camp currently touring the UAE, Oman Football Association (OFA) said on Saturday.

On Friday, OFA said two of its national team players had tested positive after they conducted PCR tests upon their arrival in Dubai. OFA did not reveal the details about the third case.

“The second laboratory tests showed that the national team was free of the Coronavirus, except for one case, which will be subject to the institutional quarantine procedures in place in the United Arab Emirates,” the statement said.

The Oman national team is in UAE to play friendly marches against India and Jordan this month.

Earlier on Friday, OFA stated: “The Oman Football Association would like to inform that the two cases are being dealt with pending the result of the second examination conducted yesterday. We have taken all appropriate health measures for their safety,” the statement said.

“The rest of the players and the technical and administrative staff are in good health,” OFA added.

The first preparatory match against Jordan is scheduled to take place on March 20, while India fixture will be played on March 25.
