MUSCAT: Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced that the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will be allowed back into service to and from the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, CAA added that the announcement was made after the Boeing 737 MAX “completed all necessary tests by the US Federal Aviation Administration, the European Aviation Safety Agency and other civil aviation authorities around the world.”

In March 2019, CAA suspended 737 MAX aircraft from flying to or from the Sultanate, following a fatal crash involving the U.S. planemaker’s latest model in Ethiopia. National airline Oman Air operates five 737 MAX 8 aircraft. However, CAA has confirmed that it will not authorize Oman Air to reoperate these aircrafts until they all complete all necessary modifications, pilots training and subject to evaluation and audit.
