MUSCAT: There has been a significant decrease in the number of COVID-19 violations reported in the country, according to Royal Oman Police.

Speaking at the Supreme Committee press conference on Thursday, Major Mohammed Al Hashmi, Directorate of Communications at ROP urged people to continue following the precautionary measures. However, according to Al Hashmi, not wearing masks in public places has topped the list of violations committed by the public.

“We count on society to be careful for its own safety and to cooperate with the police officers and the front line workers and the rest of the authorities to ward off this pandemic,” Al Hashmi said.

Last year, nearly 800 people were charged for violating the Supreme Committee decisions of which 19 percent were people who refused to wear masks while in public places.
