Major fire in Wadi Kabir Industrial area put out after eight hour effort, no casualties

MUSCAT: The huge fire that broke out in Wadi Kabir Industrial area was put out after firefighters battled for almost eight hours but no causalities were reported, Oman’s Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) said.

In a statement issued, PACDA said the fire was extinguished in the early hours on Friday.

Thick smoke was seen rising from Wadi Kabir Industrial area on Thursday late afternoon and PACDA firefighters and Royal Oman Police had rushed to the spot. “After strenuous efforts, and with the participation of Royal Oman Police and other supportive bodies, PACDA team were able to control and extinguish the fire without any injuries. The Authority thanks everyone who contributed to extinguishing the fire,” PACDA said in a statement.

The reason for the fire is not yet known, however, PACDA said it is investigating the issue.
