MUSCAT: As many as 43,486 people have been vaccinated with the two Covid-19 vaccines PfizerbioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca so far, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health today. The vaccination comes as part of the National Immunization Campaign against coronavirus.
A break-up of the figure shows that 27,400 took the first dose of PfizerbioNTech, constituting 95% of the target segment, while 24,465 received the second dose of the same vaccine covering 90% of the target segment and the Ministry is working to cover the rest.
Oxford-AstraZeneca, of which 100,000 doses have been received by the Sultanate, is being administered to a new segment of society, people aged 65 and above, irrespective of whether or not they are healthy. So far, a total of 16,086 took the vaccine (22% of the target segment) as a first dose.

The total number of doses from both vaccines stood at about 156,000, of which 56,000 PfizerbioNTech and 100,000 Oxford-AstraZeneca.
