Closed activities in North Al Sharqiyah due to 100% increase in ICU cases: Oman’s Health Minister

MUSCAT : His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Oman’s Minister of Health has clarified that commercial activities in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate was closed due to 100% increase in ICU cases in Ibra Hospital.

“The closure of North Sharqiyah Governorate was due to a 100% increase in intensive care cases in Ibra Hospital,” Al Saidi said on Monday in an interview with Oman TV.

The Minister also expressed concern over the rise in number of coronavirus patients admitted in various intensive care units (ICU) in the country.

According to Al Saidi, the total admissions in intensive care units (ICU) touched over 100% in two weeks. “We had 20 patients in ICU and today it touched 41 cases. This is a significant and disturbing increase,” he said. There are now 128 total coronavirus patients in various hospitals.

Meanwhile, Al Saidi said the government is in touch with Covid vaccine manufacturers the necessary vaccinations to cover 60% of the population
