MUSCAT: Despite issuing COVID-19 regulations, some shopping malls, restaurants and cafes are still not adhering to the precautionary measures, according to the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.
His Excellency Qais Al Yousef said the responsibility to fight the virus is on everyone. “It has been recently noticed by the Ministry that some shopping malls, as well as restaurants and cafes, are not abiding by the precautionary measures. The responsibility is on everyone and not just the government alone,” he said.
As of February 4, Oman has reported 135,041 cases of confirmed COVID-19 within its borders. 1,532 people have died while 127,266 have reportedly recovered. “Any violation from a particular activity might negatively affect others,” he said.

“Our abidance will enable us to avoid economic implications which might negatively impact the commercial markets in general,” he added.
Earlier, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health said that the Supreme Committee may consider naming and shaming commercial establishments that violate the preventive measures.
