MUSCAT : 17 people have been arrested for running a cyber racket and stealing money through online fraud in Muscat Governorate, the Royal Oman Police said.
According to ROP, the accused pretended to be bank employees send text messages to victims stating that their bank card has been suspended and advising them to activate it. “They send text messages stating that the person’s bank account has been suspended. Once they obtain the bank information from the customer, they steal the money from their account,” ROP said.
“The Royal Oman Police would like to caution the public and to ensure the reliability of the messages received from their source. We also request you to not to share your personal data and avoid falling prey to such cases,” the statement added.
