MUSCAT : Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Oman can now recruit expatriates on temporary work permit for a period of four to nine months.
According to a decision issued by Dr. Mahad Said Ba’Owain, Minister of Labour stated the following:
- In case of a necessity, a temporary permit can be issued to recruit expatriate workers in top positions: For four months, the permit fee is OMR 336, for six months OMR 502, for nine months OMR 752. For renewing the permit, the employer has to pay the same amount.
- A temporary permit can be issued to expats to be recruited in mid positions: For four months, the permit fee is OMR 169, for six months OMR 252 and for nine months OMR 377. For renewing the permit, the employer has to pay the same amount.
- Temporary permit can be issued to expats to be recruited in technical and specialized posts: For four months, the permit fee is OMR 101, for six months OMR 151 and for nine months OMR 226. For renewing the permit, the employer has to pay the same amount.
The decisions will come into effect 90 days after the date of its publication.
