MUSCAT : Recruiting an Omani employee is cost-effective compared to employing an expat worker, a top government official said.
Sheikh Nasr Al Hosni, Undersecretary of Ministry of Labour said private sector companies must invest in Omani citizens. His statement comes after the Ministry of Labour decided to increase the expat recruitment fees with the highest being OMR 2,001 for those employers who want to recruit expats in higher positions. “Bringing an expat involves high cost, in addition to various procedures including obtaining licenses, which cost companies a lot, but when it comes to recruiting Omanis, you’re not spending all that,” Al Hosni pointed out.
