MUSCAT: Chalumbeez beat Hampton 2020 by five-wickets in a friendly match with Noushad Moossa in inspired form at Amerat Grounds on Friday.
Batting first, Hampton scored 175 runs for the loss of four wickets. Opening batsman Ali Hasnain top scored with 55 and Hassan Ali scored 41 in 16 balls. Captain Shakeer, Noushad and Afsar took one wicket each.
Chasing the target, in-form batsman Shehbaz Nasar and Noushad build an opening partnership of 149 before the former fell in the 11th over. Shehbaz scored a quick 36-ball 53 (5×4, 3×6), while Noushad fell six runs short of a century scoring 94 from 37 balls (8×4, 7×6). Later Shinul, Afsar and Sadath Anwar safely steered the team to victory in a tight match. For Hampton, Rasheed Mirza took three wickets, while Ali Hassan and Shakeel Ahmed took one wicket each.

“We took all Covid-19 protocols while playing the game. It was good to be back in the ground after a long break,” said Chalumbeez player Azeem Ashraf.
