MUSCAT: According to Oman Meteorology, the weather activity is being driven by a continuing weather trough expected to affect the Sultanate until the end of October. Cloud formations will be concentrated mainly over the Hajar Mountains, with the possibility of extending intermittently to coastal areas of South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah, Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah and Musandam governorates.
The Met office has issued yellow-code alerts for thunderstorms and wind, indicating a limited-impact level. The thunderstorm alert is scheduled to begin at noon, while the wind alert is set to start at 1pm. Both alerts cover the Hajar Mountains, surrounding areas and parts of the coastal areas along the Sea of Oman.
The latest alerts and warnings are available through the Oman Meteorology website and its experimental application at https://met.caa.gov.om.
