TEHRAN: Baghaei said at his weekly press conference at the Iranian Foreign Ministry building in Tehran that this meeting will discuss regional issues.
Baghaei said the initiative was proposed during Field Marshal Munir’s visit to Tehran last week and subsequently approved by Iran. As the first meeting of its kind involving the four countries, the talks are expected to cover a range of regional security concerns, including Israeli expansion and developments in Palestine and the areas surrounding Lebanon.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman noted that a Qatari delegation visited Iran yesterday, as part of Tehran’s ongoing dialogues with countries in the region, both to strengthen bilateral relations with neighboring countries and to enable Qatar to play its role as a mediator between Iran and the United States.
