MUSCAT : The Main Committee of Muscat International Book Fair held a preparatory meeting to discuss the preparations for the 30th edition of the fair.

The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information and Chairman of the Committee.

The meeting reviewed the most prominent aspects related to organizing the upcoming edition, foremost among them the date of the fair, scheduled to be held from March 24 to April 3, 2027. This was alongside discussing the initial concepts for the programs associated with the fair, in a manner that aligns with its standing as a cultural and knowledge platform that brings together writers, intellectuals, publishers, and those interested in cultural affairs.

The committee also discussed the details of the Al Wusta Governorate’s participation as the Guest of Honor for the 30th edition of the fair. It addressed the proposed topics and themes to highlight the governorate’s historical, civilizational, cultural, and economic components, and to introduce its heritage, natural resources, and investment capabilities.

The meeting addressed the theme of the upcoming edition, which is ‘Creative Industries’, and the cultural, knowledge, and economic dimensions it carries. It also discussed its role in shedding light on the fields of creativity and innovation, and enhancing the presence of cultural and creative industries as one of the tributaries of cultural and economic development.

Furthermore, the meeting affirmed the importance of continuing the preparatory work and coordination among the relevant authorities. This contributes to the preparation for the upcoming edition and the achievement of its cultural and knowledge objectives, thereby enhancing the position of Muscat International Book Fair as one of the most prominent cultural events.
