MUSCAT : Thawani Technologies has strengthened its regional standing after securing 42nd place in Forbes Middle East’s 2026 ranking of the 50 strongest financial technology companies in the Middle East.
The recognition marks the third consecutive year that Thawani has featured on the list and reflects the continued growth of Oman’s fintech sector and the ability of national companies to compete in an increasingly dynamic regional market.
Thawani’s ranking was supported by the expansion of its digital financial services, growing user base and merchant network, and the development of payment solutions serving individuals, businesses and institutions.

According to data published by Forbes Middle East, Thawani processed more than $428 million in financial transactions during 2025. Its application recorded over 383,000 downloads by the end of December 2025, while its user base surpassed 216,000.
The company also built a network of more than 5,500 merchants and issued around 22,000 prepaid Visa cards.
Engineer Majid bin Fayel Al Amri, Founder, General Manager and Board Member of Thawani Technologies, said the company’s continued presence on the Forbes Middle East list reflects the competitive capabilities of Omani companies and the growing maturity of the Sultanate’s fintech ecosystem.
He said the recognition also demonstrates the impact of continued investment in national talent, innovation and the trust placed in the company by its customers and partners.
Since its establishment, Thawani has focused on developing digital financial solutions aimed at making everyday transactions easier, safer and more efficient.
The company has continued to expand its services and payment technologies while building strategic partnerships designed to support individuals, institutions and business growth.
Among its recent achievements is securing a licence from Visa International to issue credit cards and launching the “Mojab for Business” card for corporate expense management.
Thawani has also expanded its digital payment acceptance solutions, including electronic payment gateways, payment links and smart-device point-of-sale technologies.
Through the Thawani application, the company offers services including bill payments, international money transfers, insurance and card services. Its “Thawani Store” also provides shopping and instalment options for customers.
The company is further developing advanced payment technologies based on biometric solutions and strengthening partnerships with public and private sector institutions to expand digital financial services and support digital transformation across economic sectors.
