MUSCAT: The company, a subsidiary of Asyad Group, now serves approximately 900 commercial clients across global markets, according to data reported by Oman News Agency.
Of the 130 projects completed through August, 119 involved ship repair and maintenance, while 11 were industrial projects. About 40 percent of the new clients secured since the beginning of the year are from Middle East and Far East markets, highlighting the company’s expanding international reach.
Ahmed bin Ali Al Balushi, CEO of Asyad Drydock, said the company also set new operational records during the year, including berthing 10 vessels simultaneously for maintenance operations for the first time. The operation involved placing two vessels side-by-side at the dock and carrying out maintenance work at the same time.
The company also reached a new record by conducting maintenance and repair work simultaneously on 27 vessels, demonstrating the capacity of its facilities and workforce to handle multiple projects at once.
The floating dock has further expanded Asyad Drydock’s operational capacity. The facility handled 13 vessels through the end of August 2026, compared with two during the same period in 2025.
Asyad Drydock is also currently undertaking two shipbuilding projects for different applications, following the completion and delivery of three shipbuilding projects for clients in Oman and the Gulf region in previous years.
The growth has also generated business opportunities for local companies. During the first eight months of 2026, Asyad Drydock awarded OMR 6.5 million in contracts and purchase orders to small and medium enterprises, while local companies received contracts worth OMR 12.5 million. Together, these accounted for 81 percent of the total value of contracts awarded during the period.
Al Balushi said the expansion of the company’s operations is contributing to local content and strengthening Oman’s domestic business ecosystem by supporting local supply chains and increasing opportunities for Omani companies.
The development also reinforces Duqm’s role as an integrated maritime hub, combining port services, ship repair and maintenance, shipbuilding and related industries within the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
