MUSCAT: Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has issued a public warning against sharing personal or private information with unknown individuals or entities claiming to represent the Centre.
In an advisory, the NCSI urged members of the public not to respond to requests from unidentified sources seeking personal information or attempting to arrange home visits in the Centre’s name.
The authority clarified that it does not conduct field surveys or household visits as part of the public opinion surveys referred to in the notice.

It also stressed that it does not request one-time passwords (OTPs) from respondents, warning people not to disclose verification codes or other sensitive information.
According to the NCSI, its public opinion surveys are announced through its official social media platforms or website.
The Centre said telephone surveys are conducted through its approved call centre number, 24219000, and urged the public to exercise caution when receiving calls or messages from other sources claiming to represent the authority.
