NEW YORK : Oman and India stressed the importance of continued diplomacy and regional cooperation to safeguard security and stability as their foreign ministers met on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Oman’s Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi met India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar, with discussions focusing on regional and international developments and their implications for maritime security, energy supplies and supply chains.
“Continued diplomacy remains essential to reach practical, consensual solutions and reduce tensions,” Al Busaidi said following the meeting.

He said Oman and India were aligned on supporting regional coherence for security and stability, including maritime security and energy supplies.
The Omani Foreign Ministry said the two ministers discussed regional and international developments and their repercussions on navigation security, energy supplies and supply chains. They also stressed the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching practical and consensual solutions to outstanding issues and reducing tensions and escalation in the region.
The meeting comes during a series of diplomatic engagements by Al Busaidi in New York as part of Oman’s participation in UNGA81. In other meetings this week, Oman has similarly emphasised dialogue, peaceful settlement of disputes and diplomatic efforts to contain regional escalation.
