MUSCAT: The ministry said the licence provides the legal basis for practising journalism or media work and helps ensure that media activities are conducted in accordance with approved regulations and frameworks.
Anyone working in a media institution or online media outlet is required to hold an official licence issued by the Ministry of Information, it said.
Licences are valid for two years and must be renewed during the 30 days preceding their expiry date to ensure continuity of practice and compliance with the provisions of the Executive Regulations of the Media Law.
The licensing requirements are set out in Articles 91 to 96 of the Executive Regulations of the Media Law.
