Munich: European football governing body UEFA announced the host venues on Tuesday, with the Allianz Arena set to stage the Champions League final for the third time in 2028.
The 70,000-capacity Munich stadium previously hosted the final in 2012, when Chelsea defeated Bayern Munich on penalties, and again in 2025, when Paris Saint-Germain claimed their maiden Champions League title.
Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen welcomed the announcement, saying the Allianz Arena and Munich represented “international appeal, genuine hospitality, and the highest organisational quality.”

“We want to offer fans another exceptional experience and showcase Munich as a cosmopolitan, sports-loving, and exceptionally well-prepared host city,” he added.
Barcelona’s Camp Nou will then host the 2029 final, a year before Spain co-hosts the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Portugal and Morocco.
It will also mark the third time the European Cup or Champions League final has been staged at Camp Nou. The stadium memorably hosted the 1999 final, when Manchester United scored twice in stoppage time to beat Bayern Munich 2-1.
Camp Nou is currently undergoing a major redevelopment project that began in 2023.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta described UEFA’s decision as a source of “immense pride” for the club and its supporters.
“UEFA’s confidence in hosting one of the biggest events in world football highlights the scale and ambition of this project and establishes Spotify Camp Nou as a new icon of Barcelona and an international reference,” Laporta said.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid is already scheduled to host the 2026-27 Champions League final on June 5.
UEFA also confirmed the venues for the Women’s Champions League finals. Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon-Decines will host the 2028 final, while Cardiff’s Principality Stadium will stage the 2029 edition.
The Principality Stadium, which has a capacity of more than 73,000, previously hosted the men’s Champions League final between Real Madrid and Juventus in 2017.
