Muscat: Organised by the Oman Handball Association in partnership with the International Handball Federation (IHF), the two-day tournament will feature elite men’s and women’s national teams, including reigning world champions.
The men’s competition will see hosts Oman compete alongside Germany, Croatia and Poland. Germany arrive as the reigning world champions, while Croatia won the opening stage of this year’s Global Tour in Zagreb and Poland finished runners-up to Germany in the second stage in Płock.
In the women’s category, reigning world champions Argentina will be joined by Portugal, Germany and a fourth team to be announced later. Portugal claimed the opening Global Tour stage in Zagreb, while Germany won the second stage in Płock.

All participating teams are scheduled to arrive in Muscat on December 3 ahead of the competition.
Oman’s hosting of the event forms part of the ongoing partnership between the Oman Handball Association and the IHF and is also a key element of preparations for the Sultanate’s hosting of the 2028 IHF Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships in Dhofar Governorate.
The 2028 event will mark the second time Oman has hosted the Beach Handball World Championships, following the 2012 edition staged at the Sports City in Al Musannah.
Oman has also been confirmed to host another stage of the Beach Handball Global Tour in 2027, further strengthening the country’s growing role on the international handball calendar.
Officials say hosting international tournaments of this level will provide valuable opportunities to sharpen the skills of Oman’s national teams, develop local administrative and technical personnel and provide them with direct experience of organising competitions involving the world’s leading teams.
The events are also expected to enhance Oman’s organisational readiness ahead of the 2028 World Championships and underline growing international confidence in the Sultanate’s ability to stage major global sporting events.
The fifth edition of the Global Tour began in Zagreb, Croatia, where Croatia won the men’s competition and Portugal claimed the women’s crown. The second stage in Płock, Poland, saw Germany complete a double by winning both categories.
Each stage features eight teams, four men’s and four women’s sides.
