MUSCAT: The total output of refineries in Oman reached 129.08 million barrels by the end of July 2026, marking a 3.7 per cent decline compared with the corresponding period last year, according to preliminary statistics from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Overall automotive fuel production fell by 1.4 per cent during the period.

Production of Regular 91 petrol declined by 4.5 per cent to 9.63 million barrels, compared with 10.09 million barrels a year earlier. Sales fell 4.6 per cent to 10.04 million barrels, while exports rose 9.8 per cent to 1.98 million barrels.

In contrast, production of Premium 95 petrol increased by 2.6 per cent to 8.32 million barrels, from 8.11 million barrels during the same period of 2025. Sales, however, fell 10.6 per cent to 8.86 million barrels, while exports dropped 33.9 per cent to 362,900 barrels.

Diesel production declined 6.8 per cent to 43.31 million barrels, compared with 46.48 million barrels a year earlier. Diesel sales fell 8.3 per cent to 11.11 million barrels, while exports declined 11.8 per cent to 33.33 million barrels.

Jet fuel emerged as one of the stronger-performing products. Production increased 12 per cent to 16.79 million barrels, while exports jumped 27.4 per cent to 14.52 million barrels. Domestic sales, meanwhile, fell 9.2 per cent to 2.57 million barrels.

Production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) declined 3.3 per cent to 6.46 million barrels, with sales falling 22 per cent to 1.76 million barrels. LPG exports, however, increased 3.9 per cent to 2.06 million barrels.

Naphtha production rose 4.5 per cent to 22.61 million barrels, compared with 21.65 million barrels during the same period last year. Sales increased 3.2 per cent to 8.33 million barrels, while exports grew 2.6 per cent to 14.66 million barrels.

Production of other refinery products fell sharply by 15.9 per cent to 21.97 million barrels. Sales declined 21.7 per cent to 18.32 million barrels, while exports eased 3.1 per cent to 5.62 million barrels.

Petrochemical gasoline production increased 7.3 per cent to 109,900 metric tonnes, while exports rose 11.3 per cent to 108,000 tonnes.

Production of paraxylene grew 9.6 per cent to 370,500 metric tonnes, compared with 338,000 tonnes a year earlier. Exports increased 1.7 per cent to 372,400 tonnes.

However, polypropylene production declined sharply by 25.4 per cent to 149,900 metric tonnes, from 200,800 tonnes during the corresponding period of 2025.

Despite the drop in production, polypropylene sales increased 32.1 per cent to 23,500 metric tonnes, while exports fell 17.9 per cent to 122,300 tonnes.
