MUSCAT : Oman’s national beach soccer team will face the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan in Group C of the 2026 AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup following the official draw held at the Asian Football Confederation headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

The 12th edition of the continental championship will take place in Phang Nga, Thailand, from November 18 to 28, with 12 teams divided into three groups of four.

Hosts Thailand were drawn in Group A alongside Japan, Bahrain and Iraq, while defending champions Iran headline Group B with Lebanon, Vietnam and Afghanistan.

Under the tournament format, the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals, along with the two best third-placed sides.

Oman will head into the competition as one of Asia’s strongest beach soccer teams after finishing runners-up in the previous edition in Thailand in March 2025. The Sultanate reached the final before losing to Iran, recording its best result in the competition since lifting the Asian title in 2015.

Oman have also enjoyed consistent success on the continental stage, reaching the semi-finals in both the 2019 and 2023 editions.

The team will enter the 2026 tournament with further momentum after climbing to 10th place in the latest Beach Soccer Worldwide men’s national team rankings released on September 2. Oman are also ranked third in Asia, behind Iran and Japan, and remain the highest-ranked Arab team.
