MUSCAT : Organised by Dhofar Municipality in cooperation with the Oman Cycling Federation from September 5 to 9, the tour brought together 95 cyclists representing 16 regional and international teams.

The final stage began in front of Taqa Castle, passing through the scenic Darbat Waterfalls before finishing at Khor Rori, covering a distance of 106 kilometres.

Scott, representing Li-Ning Star, crossed the finish line in first place, ahead of Indonesia’s Yusandi Utomo of Jakarta Pro Cycling in second. Utomo’s compatriot and teammate Terry Kusuma finished third.

The Rogai team was named the best team in the fourth stage.

In the overall classification, Switzerland’s Simon Billaud of Li-Ning Star claimed the Dhofar Municipality gold jersey after finishing at the top of the general standings. Billaud also secured the green jersey as the points classification leader.

New Zealand cyclist Jeroen Majors of Victoria Sports won the grey jersey, while Indonesia’s Dimas Nur Rizki of Jakarta Pro Cycling claimed the white jersey awarded to the leading under-23 rider.

At the conclusion of the event, His Excellency Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, and Saif bin Sabaa Al Rashidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Cycling Federation, presented awards to the leading cyclists and teams.

The Salalah Cycling Tour aims to showcase Dhofar Governorate’s natural and cultural attractions while strengthening the Sultanate of Oman’s position on the international cycling map.

The event also seeks to host races approved by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), develop the skills of Omani cyclists, identify emerging talent, raise the technical standards of the sport and promote greater health awareness through cycling.
