Muscat: The campaign aimed to raise awareness of unsafe practices around high-voltage transmission towers and within transmission line rights-of-way. Launched in conjunction with the Khareef season, the campaign generated notable engagement across various segments of the community.
It focused on promoting safe practices, including maintaining a safe distance from high-voltage transmission towers and lines, avoiding encroachment on transmission line rights-of-way, and refraining from camping or sitting near these areas.
The campaign also highlighted the risks associated with flying kites and drones near these critical high-voltage infrastructure assets, as well as the importance of avoiding the placement of beehives beneath towers or the construction of permanent or temporary structures within electricity lines rights-of-way.

The campaign witnessed wide reach across social media platforms through the publication of more than 15 awareness messages and posts, achieving engagement, views and audience reach rates of over 69,000. In addition, awareness messages were broadcast through SMS targeting 15,000 recipients, supported by visual content.
Furthermore, OETC’s interactive booth at Salalah Gardens Mall attracted more than 1060 visitors throughout the campaign period. The booth featured a variety of activities, including engaging competitions, Q&A sessions, and direct interactive awareness activities designed to enhance public understanding of safety practices.
In this context, Eng. Salim Al Zubaidi, General Manager of Transmission Department – Dhofar Governorate, highlighted OETC’s ongoing and dedicated efforts to enhance awareness across all segments of society and ensure public safety.
He stated: “We were keen through this campaign to deliver clear and relatable awareness messages to the community, particularly during the high influx of visitors witnessed during the Khareef season in Dhofar. We observed positive engagement from both visitors and the local community, which reflects the importance of continuing such initiatives in promoting a culture of safety”.
Al Zubaidi added: “We firmly believe that awareness is the first line of defense, and that adherence to simple safety guidelines can significantly contribute to protecting lives and property. Therefore, we will continue to develop our awareness initiatives to achieve the highest standards of safety”.
At the conclusion of the campaign, OETC reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its efforts in promoting awareness, strengthening public safety concepts, and supporting resource sustainability. The company also called on all members of the public to consistently adhere to safety guidelines, contribute to spreading a culture of prevention, and follow the instructions, regulations, and guidance issued by the relevant authorities.
