Amman: Jordan’s Armed Forces said on Wednesday that its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 18 of 20 ballistic missiles fired from Iranian territory towards the kingdom, with authorities reporting no loss of life.

The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army said the kingdom came under missile attack in the early hours of September 9, prompting air defence systems to engage the incoming missiles.

According to an official military spokesperson, 20 ballistic missiles were detected and dealt with, of which 18 were successfully intercepted and destroyed. The remaining two missiles fell in unpopulated areas, away from population centres.

Field assessments confirmed that there were no casualties resulting from the attack.
