MUSCAT: Nissar Edathum Chalil, Founder and Managing Director of Avicen and Avenzo Pharma, has been named ‘Business Leader of the Year – Wellness’ at the fifth TAS Oman Business Awards.

The recognition celebrates Nissar’s leadership and entrepreneurial contribution to the wellness and pharmaceutical sector, as well as his role in building and developing businesses focused on health and well-being.

The award was presented during the fifth TAS Oman Business Awards ceremony at IntercityHotel Muscat, which brought together prominent business leaders, entrepreneurs and representatives from across the Sultanate’s corporate landscape.

As Founder and Managing Director of Avicen and Avenzo Pharma, Nissar has led the development of the businesses with a focus on expanding their presence in the wellness and pharmaceutical space.

The Business Leader of the Year – Wellness award recognises leadership that combines entrepreneurial vision with business development and a commitment to advancing products and services within the health and wellness sector.

Nissar’s recognition also reflects the growing role of entrepreneurs and private-sector businesses in responding to changing consumer expectations around healthcare, wellness and quality of life.

Organised by The Arabian Stories (TAS), the TAS Oman Business Awards recognise businesses, entrepreneurs, leaders and achievers for excellence, leadership, innovation and impact across a range of industries.

The 2026 ceremony marked the fifth edition of the awards, with 25 winners honoured for their achievements and contributions to Oman’s business landscape.

The event was held under the patronage of HE Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Majlis Al Shura, at IntercityHotel Muscat.
