MUSCAT: The warning comes after an advertisement was circulated claiming that motorists could receive a 50 percent reduction on traffic fines. The ROP said the announcement is not genuine and urged members of the public not to engage with such content.

The police cautioned that misleading messages may be designed to lure users into clicking fraudulent links or visiting fake websites that could compromise their personal or financial information.

The ROP urged the public not to click on unknown links or rely on information shared through unofficial sources. Residents should verify announcements and other information through the official channels of the Royal Oman Police before taking any action.

The public was also advised to report any suspicious messages or links immediately.
