BERLIN : The Stoxx 600 index settled at around 655 points, after a weak start, while London markets were closed for a bank holiday.
Energy stocks rose 0.6 percent, tracking a more than 2 percent increase in Brent crude, which was trading at around $90.70 a barrel.
On Sunday, US forces bombed two missile launch sites on Iran’s Larak Island, in the first known US military action against Iran since late July.
Iranian media reported that Tehran responded by launching attacks on US air bases.
Germany’s DAX index fell 0.5 percent ahead of inflation data from the eurozone’s largest economy, which could provide clues about the European Central Bank’s interest rate policy. Eurozone inflation figures and US jobs data are expected to be closely watched by markets later this week.
Shares in Bakkafrost fell 7.1 percent, making it one of the biggest decliners on the Stoxx 600 index, after the Faroe Islands salmon farming and production company announced its second-quarter results.
