BISHKEK : The high-level meeting came shortly after Washington and Tehran exchanged fire for the first time in more than a month, marking a fresh phase in the conflict. The United States carried out strikes on Iranian rocket launchers near the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran responded with missile attacks targeting US-linked sites in the region.
Modi and Pezeshkian are attending the SCO Summit in the Kyrgyz capital, where regional security, economic cooperation and geopolitical developments are expected to dominate discussions.
India has so far stayed away from taking a formal mediation role in the US-Iran conflict, while maintaining engagement with both sides.
