MUSCAT : Engineer Yousef bin Yaqoub Ambo Ali, Director General of Projects and Engineering Services at the Ministry of Health, told the Oman News Agency that the hospital is being developed on a land area of around 250,000 square metres, with a total built-up area of approximately 66,000 square metres.
The hospital will initially provide 170 inpatient beds, with a total capacity of 252 beds and provision for future expansion to 300 beds.
The main hospital building comprises a basement and four floors and will include five operating theatres, an accident and emergency department, outpatient clinics, radiology services, central laboratories, dialysis facilities, physiotherapy, a burns unit and specialised centres.

It will also feature operating and endoscopy suites, along with intensive care units for adults, children, premature infants and cardiac patients.
According to Ambo Ali, structural and major construction works have already been completed, while façade and external works have reached advanced stages. Electromechanical installations, internal finishing and the equipping of various departments and services are currently progressing.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year under the current schedule. However, the start of patient services will depend on the completion of construction, installation of medical and technical equipment, testing, trial operations and fulfilment of all operational readiness requirements.
Once operational, the hospital is expected to significantly strengthen healthcare capacity in Al Dakhiliyah by offering a broader range of diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and critical care services under one roof.
The new facility will also help accommodate more patients requiring specialised treatment, surgery or intensive care, while reducing referrals to healthcare institutions outside the governorate.
Ambo Ali said bringing these services closer to residents would save patients and their families time and effort while also easing pressure on other hospitals.
Specialities and equipment to be introduced for the first time at the governorate level will be determined under the final operational plan and based on healthcare requirements approved by the Ministry of Health.
The hospital has been designed as a modern, integrated medical facility equipped with advanced technologies across radiology, laboratories, surgery, endoscopy, intensive care and other specialised departments.
The Ministry of Health said the project forms part of its wider strategy to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Al Dakhiliyah in line with population growth, geographical distribution and evolving healthcare needs.
